CAPA, the property and audit consultancy, has appointed an experienced senior manager to lead the accounts payable team in its Audit division.

Steve Dodsworth is now spearheading the CAPA team that audits invoice data, across hundreds of branches, for a range of blue-chip companies including McDonald’s and Co-op.

His team undertakes a forensic analysis of accounts payable information to identify overspend and error, before recovering vast sums of cash for clients. His remit also includes growing this part of CAPA’s business.

With more than 20 years’ experience in auditing, Steve has previously worked with CAPA’s co-founder, Tony Sweeney, as well as the recovery audit firm PRGX where he led teams working with large retailers.

He explained the value a specialist accounts payable audit team can provide to large companies, with high numbers of branches spread across various geographical areas.

He said: "We have the experience and specialist knowledge to look into the detail, and the time to identify where recoveries can be made. This results in both profit and cash being handed back to our clients."

Steve added: “Our audit team loves the challenge of digging into our clients' records, identifying potential recoveries and helping our clients recover monies due to them."

At CAPA Steve will manage the analysis of clients’ entire accounts payable ledgers, their supplier contracts and payments made to suppliers. With his team, he will robustly challenge costs where issues such as payment duplication are discovered.
