Leonard Curtis Business Rescue and Recovery has instructed CAPA on 220 cases during 2017, appointing the audit and property consultancy on some of its largest cases.

CAPA has worked closely with Leonard Curtis throughout 2017 to undertake a range of services including forensic audits of property service charges, utility bills and invoices owed to insolvent companies.

One of the country's largest corporate restructuring and insolvency practices, Leonard Curtis Business Rescue and Recovery operates from 14 locations across the UK. Across just March and February this year, it appointed CAPA to carry out work on 48 different firms.

The cases CAPA was instructed on throughout 2017 included Handmade Burger Co, a Birmingham-based chain of restaurants that entered administration at the beginning of July.

As administrators, Leonard Curtis rescued and sold the business to a new owner in the same month – thereby safeguarding all 530 jobs at the company.

CAPA was instructed to undertake a full property audit on 28 restaurants the business traded from.

The audit involved a forensic analysis of property outgoings and data on invoices owed to The Handmade Burger Co, and a subsequent recovery of cash for the burger chain's creditors.

On other instructions from Leonard Curtis during 2017, CAPA has played a similarly vital role in recovering cash for creditors of insolvent or struggling firms that would otherwise have lain undiscovered. Capa has recovered about £20m for administrators during 2017.
